WELCOME TO THE ENCYLOPEDIA OF YOUTH STUDIES

We are thrilled that you are interested in using the Encyclopedia of Youth Studies (EYS)! We hope that the EYS will be a practical, useful tool as you work with young people. Here are a few tips and a tutorial for best utilizing this program.

  • You will find over 300 topics listed within the EYS. We provide easy-to-follow, reliable, relevant information on topics affecting youth worldwide.
  • All subjects are alphabetically organized. When you click on a topic, such as "ADVERTISING," you will be immediately directed to all entries about advertising. And, to search for a TOPIC, simply type it in the LEFT SIDE NAVIGATION SEARCH window and if we have it, it will appear below it. To search through the ENTIRE contents of the Encyclopedia (along with the whole site) please click on the "search" button at the upper right corner of the page.
  • Each topic will contain any combination of the following types of documents (many of which are now available for download as PDF):

INFORMATION

OVERVIEW An encyclopedic article broadly defining the issue through appropriate statistics, basic principles, and implications for youth and society. 

ARTICLES The essence of important and current articles written on a topic, with Questions for Reflection and Implications sections. Also, articles written specifically for CYS. 

BOOKS The essence of important and current books written on a topic, with Questions for Reflection and Implications sections. 

RESEARCH Quick, yet comprehensive presentations of critical research on a topic. Implications for education and ministry are included.

RESOURCES

RESOURCES Includes: Bibliography of relevant books, articles and research on the topic; Organizations that are working in the field of the topic; and, Websites geared specifically for the topic.


 

ACTION 

DISCUSSIONS Outlines, ready-to-use, about how a topic might be explored in a classroom or youth group. 

INTERVENTIONS Explains how one might help someone with a particular problem as discussed within a topic. 

PROGRAMS Describes programs developed to deal with a topic or problem. 

CASE STUDIES Briefly studies the effectiveness of programs (as related to the topic) with young people.

 

The Encyclopedia of Youth Studies is dynamic; we regularly revise and update its contents. And we rely on people like yourself to keep our information fresh and pertinent!
